A Classic Championship Weekend!

 The Super Bowl is set.

The Conference Championship games did not disappoint.  What more can I say?  I am thankful for the fact that I wasn't a fan of any of the four teams involved - I mean, the "Fan Stress" scale was a 10 out of 10.  I can empathize with Patriots, Giants, Niners and Ravens fans.  A few short years ago when my Vikings were playing in the NFC Championship game, I admit I had to walk away from the t.v. a couple of times.  I just couldn't take it.

The Forty-Niners met the same demise as my Vikings did in 1998.  Lost at home in overtime.  Oh, the humanity!  Trust me, Niners fans, this will leave a bitter taste in your mouth for years to come.  At least your team has won multiple Super Bowls, so the amount of sympathy I feel for you is limited.  But it is a bitter pill to swallow.

Bill Belichick was the defensive coordinator for the Giants when Scott Norwood was wide right in the 1990 Super Bowl.  Now he's the head coach for the Patriots when Billy Cundiff was wide left.

His own kicker, Adam Vinatieri, was absolutely clutch when he had to be.

Must be wonderful to be upwind from the Valley of Farts every single time.

But I digress.  My envy gets the best of me some times.

And we now have the epic re-match.

Both teams have been there and done that.  No deer in the headlights for this Super Bowl.  Two Super Bowl-winning head coaches.  Two Super Bowl MVP quarterbacks.  Man, this could go either way.

The last time these teams met in the Super Bowl it really felt like David versus Goliath.  I really don't get that vibe this time.  I'm at the point where I do not doubt the Giants ability to beat anyone at anytime.  I mean, they dominated a good Falcons team.  They pounded the top-seeded Packers at Lambeau.  They beat the second-seeded 49ers at Candlestick.  The weather can be cold, it can be wet, it can be muddy.  The Giants find a way to get it done.

And Victor Cruz is just unbelievable.  The football powerhouse University of Massachusetts should be very proud.

Meanwhile, the Patriots have multiple future Hall of Fame players and coaches going after yet another championship.  They've played in four Super Bowls since 2001 and they've won three of them.  This is their fifth appearance in 11 seasons.  They obviously know how to get the job done.  And you can be certain they will take nothing for granted against the Giants this time.  (I personally thought they were a little complacent in the '07 Super Bowl.  Going undefeated can do that to you.)

It promises to be a good one.  Much more coming...
