A Step Forward, But More Lame Excuses

NCAA President Mark Emmert seems to be warming to a four-team NCAA football playoff format.  He said it seems like a "sound" idea.

It's a start, but still leaves much to be desired.  President Emmert does not, however, advocate a 16-team format and the excuses arguments against such a system are lame:

"Moving toward a 16-team playoff is highly problematic because I think that's too much to ask a young man's body to do. It's too many games, it intrudes into the school year and, of course, it would probably necessitate a complete end to the bowl system that so many people like now."

Here's how you fix it, Mr. President.

• First of all, it's not "too much" to ask a young man's body to do.  Seriously?  These guys are conditioned athletes.  Furthermore...  
• Why isn't this a problem for FCS football players?  Or maybe these players are just in better shape than the BCS wussies?

It's "too many games" and "intrudes on the school year"??? 

• First of all, are you telling me the college basketball season doesn't intrude on the school year?   

• Secondly, if you think there would be "too many games," then get rid of those stupid first four meaningless games of the season and begin the season with a bang with conference games.  Problem solved.

Lastly, it does not "necessitate a complete end" to the current bowl system.

• Each playoff game is a bowl game.  Everyone wins.  I suggested this years ago!  Problem solved.

Nobody listens to me.  Damn it.
